“En 1945 el Real Madrid hace realidad el sueño de todo Madrid: la construcción del Gran Chamartín, el mejor campo de fútbol de Europa”

Il radio giornale spagnolo annuncia la grandezza del nuovo impianto sportivo, uno stadio concepito per diventare il campo in grado di contendere il primato all’iconico Wembley.

Lo hanno voluto Bernabeu e Salgado, già consapevoli della leggenda calcistica che di lì a poco si sarebbe creata nella capitale iberica. La prima pietra venne posata nell’ottobre del 1944 e soltanto tre anni più tardi venne consegnato un gioiello da 72000 posti.

Quel 14 Dicembre del 1947, il Real Madrid giocò la sua prima partita contro i portoghesi del Belenenses, in quello che rimarrà per otto anni il Nuevo Estadio Chamartín.

Nel 1955 l’onore e la gloria al presidentissimo Bernabeu, chiamato a identificarsi con un luogo che segnerà la storia del calcio mondiale.

Uno stadio che per noi italiani evoca dolci ricordi che si perdono in quell’estate del 1982, l’estate del Mundial. Paolo Rossi e Tardelli i protagonisti di una notte glorificata dalla elegante telecronaca di Nando Martellini, testimone di un giorno e di una partita rimasti nell’immaginario azzurro.
