Campione d’Olanda nel 1981 con l’AZ Alkmaar, club con il quale festeggiò anche tre Coppe d’Olanda. In Italia vestì le maglie di Genoa (vari infortuni caratterizzarono la sua esperienza in rossoblù) e Atalanta. Il 18 agosto del 1974 nasce Jan Peters. Nel giorno del decimo anniversario dalla dipartita di Jean Nicolay, il quale con lo Standard Liegi festeggiò vari titoli nazionali.
