4 marzo: la presentazione del FIFA 100

Il 4 marzo del 2004, a Londra, in occasione del centenario della Fifa, presentò la lista dei 125 giocatori viventi più forti della storia del calcio, da tutti poi chiamata “Fifa 100”. Con la supervisione di Pelé, l’elenco doveva contenerne sol0 100 ma poi si decise di cambiare inserendo 50 giocatori in attività e 75 ormai ritirati.

La lista di “O’Rey” fu oggetto di aspre critiche soprattutto dagli addetti ai lavori del mondo anglosassone. Questi ultimi si lamentavano di non aver inserito alcuni giocatori inglesi ma in tanti si lamentarono, anche in Brasile, di alcune esclusioni da questa lista.
