La storia di un portiere granata che vinse il Campionato del Mondo

(PIEMONTEPNEWS.IT- di Sergio Donna – Foto dal sito PIEMONTEPNEWS.IT) La testata Piemontepnews, racconta la storia di un portiere granata quasi dimenticato ma laureatosi Campione del Mondo. Di seguito vi riportiamo alcune parti dell’articolo.

[…] Parliamo di Aldo Olivieri, per tutti il Gatto magico. [… ]Fu l’allenatore Ernő Egri Erbstein (che poi perirà a Superga con l’intera squadra degli Invincibili) a volerlo fortemente al Torino nel 1938. “Il Gatto” si era appena aggiudicato il titolo di campione del mondo. Si era però rifiutato di stringere la mano al duce, il giorno in cui la Nazionale di Vittorio Pozzo venne ricevuta a Villa Borghese per ricevere gli onori di Stato dopo il trionfo di Parigi, rischiando fortemente di mettere a repentaglio la propria carriera. Il presidente granata Cuniberti cedette però alle insistenze del lungimirante allenatore ungherese che voleva a tutti i costi in squadra quel bravo portiere.

[…] Gianni Brera, maestro di giornalismo, così ebbe a scrivere di lui: “Olivieri è stato il più grande portiere italiano. Quando volava, volava a ragion veduta: usciva sempre con ammirevole coraggio”. Militò nella squadra granata dal 1938-39 al 1941-1942. Lasciò il Torino nel 1942, anno di nuovi innesti nella formazione, e con gli acquisti dal Venezia di due grandi campioni come Loik e Mazzola.
