[…] Ferenc Plemich nasce a Budapest il 19 novembre del 1899, per poi trasferirsi appena ventunenne a Trieste, città dalla lunga tradizione austro-ungarica nella quale ha così potuto trovarsi a suo agio.

[…] Era un centrocampista di grande qualità tecnica e tattica, un classico della scuola magiara alla quale apparteneva. In quegli anni era infatti assai frequente che club italiani si rivolgessero ai rinomati maestri ungheresi sia per usufruirne delle abilità in campo, ma anche per apprenderne le doti da strateghi del calcio.

[…] A volerlo è l’Ideale Bari, ed è subito un trionfo con la vittoria del campionato di Seconda Divisione. […] L’approccio con quella che diventerà la sua Puglia […] è strepitoso. E’ così che, dopo alcuni mesi da solo tecnico di un altro club di Bari, nel 1928 arriva la chiamata del Lecce, con cui darà vita ad una trionfale storia d’amore. Per due stagioni ha infatti ricoperto il ruolo di allenatore/giocatori dei giallorossi.

[…] La seconda stagione, quella cadetta, di Plemich al Lecce si conclude con un buon tredicesimo posto che vale la salvezza nella prima B della storia del club. Poi sarà divorzio, ma solo momentaneamente. […] Tornerà nel 1936/37.

[…] L’ultimo atto è il meno piacevole del rapporto idilliaco tra Ferenc Plemich e il Lecce. E’ il 1948/49 e, nel disperato tentativo di salvarsi in Serie B, il club chiama il suo condottiero storico.
