Il Corriere del Veneto intervista Pierluigi Cera, a due giorni dalla morte di Muller. Un racconto genuino e pieno di aneddoti, di cui vi proponiamo un estratto.

[…] Cosa ricorda dei gol che segnò Müller quel giorno all’Italia?

[…] «Il primo mi è restato impresso perché c’era una palla vagante in area, la prese Roberto Poletti che mi “dribblò” mentre ero pronto a rinviare. Müller si infilò in un pertugio scoperto e arrivederci. L’altro è ancora più indimenticabile. Non so come riuscì a deviarla dentro, Rivera esitò sulla linea, tant’è che dopo Ricky Albertosi lo rampognò. Gianni si riscattò subito, appunto, ma in quel modo di segnare c’era tutto Müller».

[…] Prima della semifinale di Città del Messico lo conoscevate?

[…] «Erano altri tempi. Non c’era lo studio di oggi dell’avversario. Le partite che passavano in televisione erano poche. Il calcio in questi decenni è cambiato al 100%. Non si possono fare raffronti. Se c’era una cosa che sapevamo di Müller era una. Ovvero, che segnava sempre. Nei quarti i tedeschi avevano eliminato l’Inghilterra campione del mondo: 3-2 ai supplementari e il terzo gol, quello decisivo, lo fece lui, è ovvio».

[…] Alla Germania Ovest avrebbe tolto Müller?

[…] «In realtà il loro calciatore che più apprezzavo non era lui. Mi piaceva in maniera particolare Wolfgang Overath, che aveva una visione di gioco formidabile e una classe purissima».
