Ciao “Piedone”: la scomparsa di Pedro Manfredini

GLIEROIDELCALCIO.COM – Giornata di lutto per la compagine giallorossa: oggi Pedro Waldemar Manfredini, conosciuto come “Piedone”, è venuto a mancare. Ricoverato da tempo all’Ospedale Grassi di Ostia oggi alle 13:30 è purtroppo deceduto. È la stessa società capitolina che ne ha dato l’annuncio tramite un tweet sul proprio account ufficiale: “L’AS Roma piange la scomparsa di Pedro Manfredini, uno dei più grandi attaccanti della storia giallorossa. Ai familiari va l’abbraccio della Società e dei tifosi romanisti”.

Nato in Argentina, Maipu de Mendoza, il 7 settembre 1935, è stato uno dei migliori attaccanti della storia della Roma. Tra il 1959 e il 1965 mette a segno 104 gol in 164 partite: 130 presenze e 77 reti in Serie A, 9 reti in 14 partite in Coppa Italia e 18 reti in 20 partite nella Coppa delle Fiere.

Il soprannome gli venne attribuito per una foto che ne ingigantiva il piede destro perché presa dal basso mentre scendeva dalla scaletta dell’aereo al suo sbarco nella Capitale: in realtà aveva un normale 43. Goleador di razza, velocissimo e potente, forse poco tecnico ma “cecchino” inesorabile. A Roma entra nel cuore dei tifosi, e viene osannato dovunque vada. Viene citato anche nell’episodio Che vitaccia! de I mostri di Dino Risi, il personaggio interpretato da Vittorio Gassman urla a squarciagola dagli spalti dell’Olimpico “Vai, Piedone, vai!”.

Quando arriva dalla Lazio Selmosson, che gli offre continuamente dei palloni molto molto invitanti, si esalta e diventa implacabile.

Tante, tantissime, le doppiette e anche le triplette da meritarsi un ulteriore appellativo: “Man-TRE-dini”.

Gioca anche con il Brescia e il Venezia a fine carriera. Sceglie poi di rimanere a vivere a Roma e poi a Ostia gestendo alcune attività imprenditoriali.
