Il 25 marzo si disputava la trentesima giornata e i giallorossi ospitavano il pericolante Verona. La squadra capitolina vinse 5-2 con doppiette di Rudi Voeller e Stefano Desideri. A pochi minuti dal termine a Franco Tancredi subentrò il giovane Ferro Tontini, all’unica presenza nella massima serie: l’unico portiere imbattuto nella storia romanista. Ma quel match verrà ricordato soprattutto per l’ultimo gol di Bruno Conti, il quale aveva aperto le marcature al min.16. In quel campionato ‘Marazico’ toccò il campo ventuno volte. <<Gli devo delle scuse -disse il tecnico della Roma a metà girone di andata- per averlo trascurato nelle prime partite, invece è ancora un campione e merita spazio>>. Era l’unica stagione a Trigoria di Gigi Radice, ricordato con affetto dai tifosi giallorossi per una squadra che nell’impianto di viale Tiziano poteva sentire il calore della sua gente. Una formazione tosta, coriacea che riuscì ad ottenere la qualificazione alla Coppa Uefa. Una Roma che giocava “cor core”.
