Quattordici stagioni nel Leeds. Sette titoli con i ‘Whites’: due campionati, due Coppe delle Fiere, una FA Cup, una Supercoppa inglese, una Coppa di Lega. E il Mondiale del 1966 da riserva. Il coronavirus ce lo portò via in quel 2020: il 29 ottobre del 1943 nasceva Norman Hunter che oggi avrebbe compiuto ottant’anni. Nel giorno del suo sessantesimo compleanno se ne andava Gerrie Deijkers, il quale con il PSV vinse tre ‘scudetti’, due Coppe d’Olanda e la Coppa Uefa nel 1978 (fu capocannoniere di quella manifestazione). Ed esattamente vent’anni fa ci lasciava anche Gino Armano; nel 2018 scrisse di lui Andrea Schianchi sul libro per i 110 anni dell’Inter (iniziativa La Gazzetta dello Sport): “Alfredo Foni spostò Ivano Blason alle spalle della retroguardia e, contemporaneamente, trasformò l’ala destra Armano in laterale difensivo, e così nacque la figura del tornante”.

P.S. Nel calcio la figura del massaggiatore è qualcosa che va oltre il rapporto professionale con i calciatori. Può essere un amico in più, un confidente. E speciale era il feeling tra Maradona e Salvatore Carmando, quest’ultimo nato il 29 ottobre 1943. Nel 1986 Diego lo portò in Messico.
